What is the story behind the team? How does everyone know each other, and where did the name “Dom’s Angels” come from?
Eight of us joined a league as individuals, plus BFFs Tim and Dom, in January last year. We clicked straight away, without too many arguments about whether NZ or Australia is the better country. We’ve gained a sister and another tall Australian along the way and are now playing our sixth season together. We’re Dom’s Angels because Dom is only a ringer for us now, but he still oversees our missions down the phone.
We absolutely love these kinds of stories about teams bonding off the court as well as on it. I’ve heard you’ve planned a team weekend away together. Where are you going?
We recently did a trip to Barcelona! We’d be top of the table if there was a sub-league for pitchers of sangria and plates of patatas bravas consumed in a 48-hour window.
You’ve only been with us for two seasons, but in that time, is there anything that stands out about playing at Playnetball compared to other similar companies you’ve played with?
We’d love to acknowledge the amazing organisation of the whole Playnetball team; their communication, preparedness, and standard of umpires is unmatched!
We are excited to see that you’ve entered our Mixed Netball Tournament on 9th May. How do you rate your chances? Are Dom’s Angels going in as dark horses, favourites, or just there to enjoy the day and see what happens?
Much like our attitude towards the seasonal comp, we’re there to have fun and not break any ankles! If anything, we hope we’ll be top contenders for best dressed.
Lastly (and a bit of a cheeky one), which player in your team do you reckon is likely to stay out and party the longest on the 9th May?
Based on Barcelona, someone might need to keep an eye on most of us… and place a ban on tequila shot-related transactions.
