How the Grades work

Women's A Grade

Competitive - for players who have a clear and logical understanding of team tactics and strategy. You're probably pretty fit, experienced, competitive and are fully aware of the rules of the game.

A grade players have often played at club or university level.  Monday Women’s A grade in Angel is probably our highest standard of women's netball.

Mixed A Grade

Competitive - for players of any gender who have a clear and logical understanding of team tactics and strategy. You're probably pretty fit, experienced, competitive and are fully aware of the rules of the game.

Mixed A grade is similar to women's A but the inclusion of experienced male players ensures the standard is a little higher and the game a little faster. Our Tuesday Mixed A grade is probably the highest standard mixed netball league in London.

Women's C Grade

Recreational - our lowest level of netball although this doesn’t mean it’s uncompetitive! The standard for our current C Grade league is a little higher than beginners.

This is for players who are returning to netball after a break, new players with a little experience picking up the game or players who just want a bit of a run around without it being too competitive. You should have a basic understanding of the rules.

5-a-side

The basic idea is the same as regular netball: get the ball through the hoop! Many of the rules are the same as regular netball: obstruction, contact, travelling, offside, replayed ball, etc.

However, there are a number of fundamental difference such as: There are only 5 players on court for each team – GS, GA, C, GD, GK, players rotate positions each time their team scores a goal. It’s played indoors on a half-sized basketball court and the basketball hoop is used to score – yes, you can use the backboard!

Beginners Training

If you’ve never played before you’ll probably want to come along to our beginners training.  We run courses 2 – 3 times a year (depending on interest) which will run through some of the basics of the game before learning the key skills.

The sessions will end in some match play where you’ll work on understanding a little bit more about the rules and how to play. On completion of the sessions, we'll help you to find a team in one of our C grade leagues.
