Emma Williams is an Aussie who apparently enjoys living in England. Having been here for almost 8 years now, she’s finally worked out that the trick to getting through the winters is to find a pub with a log fire. But even on those cold winter nights one thing she can’t live without is her netball. She has a long and extensive sports history and won't bore you with all the minor details on this website. However, she’s been involved in netball for over 17 years including representative levels in Australia and England. She has qualifications for umpiring and refereeing in netball and touch rugby, loves triathlons and basically doing anything outdoors
that she can, rain, hail or shine. She also has several years of sports management experience behind her and is committed to making your playnetball.com experience the best that it can be. You will find her at the courts religiously every Tuesday and then either playing and umpiring across all other nights.
Steve doesn't quite have the same sporting history as Emma. And whilst he'd like to blame it on severely inclement weather and a lack of sporting facilities in the Welsh valleys it's probably got more to do with him just being rubbish! Steve is responsible for doing all the boring stuff behind the scenes and loves it when stuff works as planned. He's been involved with running sporting leagues and competitions for what seems like forever. He makes sure that we have a venue, a website, equipment, first aid, teams to play against, and (almost most importantly) a pub to go to afterwards. Steve also plays for the mighty mighty mighty mighty DIVAS
If you've been anywhere near a netball court in the last four years you've probably played with / against / been umpired by / or complained to Kylie. Up until February 2010, she was managing a rival league that won't be named but has traded that in for a career in events and has joined playnetball (in her opinion london's friendliest league) as a site manager and general go to girl.
Cheree is an Aussie who’s lived in England for over 9 years. A bit of a sports nut she started out at a young age playing Vigoro (a dying form of ladies cricket played in Australia with an odd shaped bat), indoor cricket and beach volleyball. Unlike most Aussie girls she was a late bloomer to netball and only started playing at the age of 20. That hasn’t stopped her from becoming thoroughly addicted over the last 10 years and she always seems to be playing, umpiring or doing something else else netball related. Cheree has been umpiring and Site Managing around London for the past 9 years so she will be a familiar face to some. Recently though she's keeping a bit of a low profile while she embarks on a new life challenge, being a mum. Cheree hopes to be back on the netball scene as soon as possible though and looks forward to catching up with all the Playnetballers old and new.
Sophie Lilley is the communications, branding and social skills expert for playnetball.com. Her job is to be younger than everyone else and keep us cool and trendy. By day she works in ballet and opera and by night she avenges crimes against good manners as her alter ego Cherry Chapstick. As a netballer she captains those perennial bridesmaids, the Nomads, in the stonkingly competitive Mixed A Grade. One day though, through careful poaching of players from other leagues and incessant on court yelping, she too will hold that fabled certificate.
Zoey Dowell, born in the midlands, raised in Luton, now a North Londoner to the core, works with kids for social services in a north London borough. Zoey has been involved in adult level netball for about 10 years now currently playing GD for her club Palmers Green in the London and South East Regional League. Back in her school/college days Zoey sported (not by choice) the GS bib with an impressive 50% shooting average! Zoey is a B award umpire with England Netball, working towards her A award and umpires regularly at regional level. Zoey is also a qualified netball coach.
Juls is yet another Aussie who can't get enough of playnetball. She's played competitive netball during the vast majority of her younger years (startign at 8) before injuries forced her withdrawal from playing at the ripe old age of 20 (though she's filling more and more these days). Luckily, she enjoyed umpiring as much as playing and has been involved with child, teen, adult ladies and mixed umpiring for 14years. In her spare time (aka when not at netball), Juls is a speech language therapist currently working hard in south London secondary schools. She has been involved with playnetball since her arrival to the UK in 2008 as an umpire, umpire trainer, friendly face, fill-in player and pub attendee.
